Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by href="http://www.mycharmingkids.net">MckMama. You can head over to href="http://www.mycharmingkids.net%22%3eher/ blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

First of all, let me say that jewelry making is only a hobby. I do not spend obscene amounts of time obsessing over it.

I did not open a store on Etsy to sell my jewelry. I am not crushed that I have not sold a single piece yet after not spending hours photographing, listing, labeling, and packaging the jewelry. And that is not my purple TV or my copy of Nightmare Before Christmas. I'm 28, for Christ's sake!

Money does not grow on trees. So of course I did not spend $179.87 at Beadaholique.

Nope...this did not cost $179.87.

I did not spend over an hour on this bracelet, only to decide that I like it too much and must keep it for myself.

Now, on to other things...

I love doing laundry. So this is not my laundry pile standing close to 5 feet high.

The little girl I babysit, lil J, did not give me this flower pot for mother's day. And I did not promptly fill it with about $70 in quarters instead of, oh, I don't know...a flower.

I would never, ever take lil J out in the rain just to get cute pics of her with her umbrella.

I don't make wishes on dandelions. And I certainly don't photograph weeds.

And I don't encourage lil J to make wishes on weeds.

Digital SLR, please

I absulutely need...

Sigma SD14 Digital SLR

...a digital SLR. I like to take pictures. A lot. Don't get me wrong...I'm not a photographer. Never took a photography class, or read any photography books. Just like taking pictures. Pictures of nature. Pictures of beautiful sunsets. Pictures of my dog, who, in case you're wondering, is the most awesome dog ever. And pictures of the cute little kid I babysit. Basically, pictures of anything. And I'm a scrapbooker, so I want GOOD pictures. Who wants crappy pictures? Not me. I have a Panasonic Lumix point and shoot and it's pretty good, but I think I'm ready for the next step up.

OK, I have some news. Stand back, it just may blow you away. OK, OK, it's not THAT awesome, but I am pleased to announce that The Laughing Girl is now open for business on Etsy.com. I have 7 pieces listed so far, but I will be adding more as time permits. (I am a busy girl working 2 jobs, ya know!) As you've seen, I have many, many more pieces to sell. I'm hoping to get them up by Sunday night/Monday morning, but you know how I am with time...

Anyways, here are the pieces up for sale, complete with the cheezy names I made up for them:
"Dylan"

"Eire"

"Ice Princess"

"Jack Frost"

"Poseidon"

"Here Comes the Sun"

"Tickled Pink"

To see details and more pictures of these bracelets, please visit my store on Etsy.com

The Laughing Girl

Check back often for more pieces, and keep an eye on this blog...I have some big ideas! I'm thinking next week I will do a "How-To" on jewelry making, and I might even have a contest...to give away some jewelry...in the near future! Stay tuned!

so I'm a little behind...

OK, OK, I know I said I was hoping to have my online jewelry store up and running by now, but I'm running behind. As you can see I've been busy making lots and lots of bracelets...I just haven't had time to take proper pics and get the stuff listed. But I will soon, I promise.

After working for a while, I began running out of ideas. So I turned to an odd place for inspiration...album covers. I love album art. It's part of the reason I was so reluctant to join the 21st century and download albums instead of buying CDs...I just like the pictures. So anyways, here are a few of my "inspired" pieces...

This one was inspired by the shirt Cara Dillon is wearing on the cover of her Hill of Thieves album.

I really liked the turquoise color of Julie Fowlis' album Mar a Tha Mo Chridhe so I started from there. The English translation of the title is "as my heart is" so I decided to add a crystal heart charm. It looked weird with just the pink heart so I incorporated a little more pink into the bracelet and I was surprisingly pleased with the results. I may end up keeping this one for myself.

Last but not least, the oh-so-inspirational Laughing Girl album by Jenna Reid. I named my blog after it. I named my store after it. Now, I have a bracelet inspired by it. The combination of orange and bright pink is a little odd, but I like it, and the black gives it an edgy look.

Not Me Monday

Trying something new today...

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to http://www.blogger.com/%3Ca%20href= blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I did not embark on an internet shopping spree at 12:30AM. Also did not, as a result of said nonexistent shopping spree, order a gorillapod, a pair of crazy bright blue plaid shorts, matching bright blue tank top, 2 striped shirts, and a funky flowered frock.

I did not sleep ridiculously late this morning and then go for a walk around the neighborhood wearing purple plaid shorts that are 2 sizes too big, a brown hoodie that is a size too small, and orange and white sneakers that fit just right. And I don't even own a blue bucket hat with a Care Bear on the front, so I did not add that to make the outfit complete. (Sorry..no picture of that!)
I definitely did not eat cherry pull-n-peel Twizzlers, which I did not buy to eat during Grey's Anatomy last week, for breakfast.

I did not waste a perfectly good day (when I should have gone to the bank and post office and put away the winter clothes that are blocking access to my closet) sitting around making jewelry.

I did not forget to order more freshwater pearls, bali bead spacers, crimp beads, and clasps, and, since I did not use up what I had today, my jewelry production has not been halted until said supplies arrive.

I did not go into work this afternoon sporting a traffic-cone orange hoodie, baby blue Crocs, and a kelly green Yankees cap. (Sorry, no pics, but the hoodie perfectly matches this skort, which I am not wearing right now...and I did not take that pic in the bathroom.)

I did not take this picture just because I think my cat has the absolute cutest little hairy feet in the whole world.

I did not practically climb out my second-story bathroom window to get this picture of the sunset.

And I most definitely did not skip dinner (to complete a totally nutritious day) in order to go out and get more sunset pics.

And last but not least, I am not sitting here singing along to some Scottish Gaelic songs by Julie Fowlis. And even if I was I would not make up the words just because I'm not fluent in Gaelic.
